One of the most popular CMS systems going around the world today is WordPress. Much of this success is due to usability and how the whole platform is beginner friendly. This convenience also includes installation of WordPress themes, but sometimes you need a bit of a hand.

From WordPress Version 2.7 and later. Now you can install themes directly from your WordPress admin area. Once you are logged into the backend, go Appearance -> Add Category. From here you can search through their back catalog of WordPress templates. After choosing one is just a few simple clicks and follow the prompts to install it.

You can not always be able to the template you’re looking through this catalog. It is often difficult to assess how well your site will resemble a small thumbnail. In cases like this you can surf the Internet looking for free wordpress themes.

When you have a theme you want, download to your PC. It will probably either RAR or ZIP format, so you need an unzipping tool. WinRAR is free to download if the file type a.rar. Once packed, please FTP / upload files to your own web host. Most web hosts your files in “public_html” folder, so it’s a good place to start. If your WordPress installation is in root folder, you need at the right place directly on the connection, otherwise you will have to navigate through folders.

You then need to navigate through the Themes folder. Folder tree goes something like this:
public_html -> * * wordpress installation folder -> wp-content -> themes.
You can bulk theme to this folder.

So it’s a matter of logging into your admin panel. Going Appearance -> Themes and activate your new theme. Tap this screen you can not see a thumbnail of the theme you just uploaded. Try doing a refresh by pressing F5 on your keyboard. If it still does not show, make sure that once you have uploaded the new theme, which was placed in its own folder. If this still does not solve the problem you’ve downloaded a dud package and you can try downloading again or find another theme.

Learning how to install WordPress themes become only the second nature after awhile. Especially when you work wordpress folder structure. Plus remember that when you settle back into a beautiful theme that you rarely change!
